# Business guide

For integrators.

How money, shipping, orders and compliance work for an integrator account. The technical details are in the reference; this page is the rules behind them.

## Your account

Building an app that orders prints? Sign up as an integrator with an email that has no 3DAPI seller account. A seller account cannot be converted into an integrator account, and one account cannot be both. Not sure which you need? [Compare seller and integrator accounts](https://www.dapi.digital/seller-or-integrator).

## Quotes

Quoting is free. Before approval you can quote 25 files per round and a daily number of quotes (`daily_quote_limit_reached` resets at midnight UTC); after approval quotes are unlimited.

A quote's `price` is the production price of one unit. Larger quantities cost less per unit as plates fill, so price an order with its real quantity.

## Orders you pay (wallet mode)

You pay the production price plus shipping, from your wallet. When the balance is short, the difference is charged to your saved card as a wallet top-up, with VAT on the top-up when it applies to your billing country. There is no monthly fee and no minimum quantity per order.

There is no sandbox or test card: test with a small wallet-mode order. When your account is approved you get **$15 of sample credit**, valid for 30 days, for exactly that: send `use_sample_credit: true` on a wallet order shipped to your own country and it is spent before your balance. Your wallet shows what is left (`sample_credit`).

## Orders your customer pays (checkout mode)

Your customer pays your `unit_sales_price` plus shipping on a hosted 3DAPI checkout page, by card, in USD. 3DAPI is the merchant of record: the card statement shows 3DAPI Inc.

- The link stays open 24 hours from when the order is created. Unpaid, the order is then cancelled and `checkout.expired` is sent.
- `success_url` and `cancel_url` are used exactly as you send them, with no placeholders: put your own id in `reference` and find the order with `list_integrator_orders?reference=`, or wait for `order.paid`.
- VAT is added for buyers in the EU and the UK. There is no US sales tax.
- Your customer gets the order confirmation and shipping emails from 3DAPI, naming you as the seller. They cannot be copied to you; follow the order with webhooks.
- You earn the sales price less the production price and the card fee (EU 1.5% + $0.30, UK 2.5% + $0.30, elsewhere 2.9% + $0.30), credited to your wallet when the order is completed. The minimum `unit_sales_price` always covers both, so a sale never loses money.

Every order, in either mode, needs business billing details: a sole trader or registered freelancer with a tax registration is enough. See [Compliance](https://public-api.dapi.digital/docs/guides/integrator-business.md#compliance).

## Shipping, duties and countries

Shipping is priced by destination zone and by the tier of the heaviest item: **small** up to 600 g, **medium** up to 2 kg, **large** above. An item weighs the greater of its actual and volumetric weight (length x width x height in cm / 5000). Every further item adds the zone's per-item price, except extra-small items (under 100 g, on a line without extras). `estimate_integrator_order_shipping` gives the exact figure, and `get_shipping_rates` the whole rate card.

- 3DAPI delivers worldwide except Russia, Belarus, Iran and Syria, which are refused with `shipping_destination_not_served`.
- Orders are made at a production centre near the buyer. Where there is none in the buyer's region, they ship from the closest one and import duties are paid by the buyer on delivery.
- Once shipped, the order carries `shipping.carrier` (a plain name, for example `DHL`) and `shipping.tracking_number`. There is no tracking URL.

## Order lifecycle and times

An order moves `paid` → `assigned` (a production partner has it) → `in_production` → `shipped` → `completed`. `completed` means delivered and settled.

- Production: on-demand orders ship within 3 to 5 business days of payment.
- Delivery: 1 to 3 business days from a local production centre, 5 to 10 business days internationally.

Each step sends its webhook event (`order.paid`, `order.assigned`, `order.in_production`, `order.shipped`, `order.completed`).

## Cancellations, refunds and problems

- **Before production:** cancel a `paid` order (or an unpaid checkout order) with `cancel_integrator_order`. It is refunded in full: to your wallet for wallet orders, to the buyer's card for checkout orders. Card refunds take 5 to 10 business days.
- **After production starts:** email [contact@dapi.digital](mailto:contact@dapi.digital).
- **A production partner refuses an order:** 3DAPI reassigns it to another partner, or, if none can make it, cancels it and refunds it automatically.
- **Lost parcels** are reprinted and shipped again at 3DAPI's cost.
- **Defects** in printing are 3DAPI's responsibility. Report a defective or damaged delivery to [contact@dapi.digital](mailto:contact@dapi.digital) with the order number and photos.

## Compliance

Orders are refused with `compliance_blocked` (403) until your account meets what `details.requirements` lists, and `details.fix_url` opens the dashboard page that fixes it:

- **Business billing details**, for any order. A sole trader or registered freelancer is a business here, as long as it has a tax registration.
- **An EU Responsible Person**, only to sell to EU or UK customers in checkout mode when your business is outside the EU and UK. EU product-safety rules (GPSR) require one. The product stays yours, so 3DAPI cannot act as your Responsible Person. It does not need a company: services such as [EUVerify](https://euverify.com?fpr=br8qmn) (10% off for 3DAPI integrators through this link), [EU Compliance Partner](https://eucompliancepartner.com/eu-responsible-person-service) and [ComplyEU](https://complyeu.com/) cost roughly 60 to 300 EUR a year. Add yours on the EU responsible person page; `eu_responsible_person_not_found` means none is set.

Your billing details need a tax form when your business is outside the EU and UK (`tax_form_required` until it is added): a W-9 for a US business; elsewhere outside the EU and UK, a W-8BEN (`w8ben`) when you are a person or sole trader, or a W-8BEN-E (`w8ben_e`) when you are a company or other entity. EU and UK businesses need none.
